Abstract:
A thermogravimetric study of the defect structure of alpha-Nb2O5 is reported and shows the results of weight change data over a range of oxygen partial pressures and over the temperature range of 900C to 1250C. The results of conductivity, ac and dc, measurements on Sc2O3 are reported and show that with commercially available material the electrical behavior is controlled by the impurity content. The thermoluminescence and related optical properties of some refractory oxides are discussed, and experimental results are presented. Work has been done primarily on Y2O3 and ThO2, with some effort devoted to ZnO, SnO2, MgO, CeO2 and Nb2O5. Experimental measurements reported include glow curves, excitation spectra, emission spectra, dosage studies, bleaching studies, initial rise and cleaned peak methods, fluorescence and absorption.
