Abstract:
The volume contains the texts of sixteen professional articles, together with shorter papers by panel participants, and verbatim discussions covering the entire four-day conference. It begins with a consideration of the tentative recommendations on regimes of the sea floor by the Marine Science Commission, followed by a session on the Geneva Conference as seen from a perspective of ten years passage of time. Next comes a discussion of the continental shelf - first jurisdictional problems and then the question of competing demands. There is a session on international fisheries arrangements, the floor of the deep sea, and finally on alternatives for international organization, including a panel on views of other nations toward international organization for the sea.
