Abstract:

Underwater vision involves movement in any direction in three-dimensional space, darkness or low visibility in the visual frame of reference, and passive moments that are due to turbulence, currents, changes in buoyancy. Divers compensate well for active movement but poorly, if at all, for slow passive movement. Further work is needed to show whether the failure to compensate is due to the fact that the movement is passive or slow.
