Limiting properties of random variables associated with a system of random processes are investigated. Particles enter the system at integer times in random Poisson numbers, and at subsequent integer times are allowed to move independently according to a 2 dimensional random process, Markov in one dimension. Deaths of particles occur randomly. The random variables investigated are A sub n B, the number of particles in a finite set of states B at time n and M sub n Br, the number which have visited B exactly r times by time n.
