Research and development studies were conducted on antenna designs for data transmission under contract to Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories. The studies constituted of two major tasks the development of telemetry antenna designs for the 2.2 GHz to 2.3 GHz frequency band, and the development of antenna designs for specific mission applications. The former task was a general investigation leading to development of a prototype antenna designs for research rockets and some satellites. In the latter task, antenna systems were developed and implemented for specific use on satellites launched on Scout and Atlas vehicles, on an ejectable 24-inch sphere, and on various rockets and satellites as directed by contracting officer.
