Ferrite-core materials with a rectangular hysteresis loop RHL display a structure and physical constants which sharply differ from those of the polycrystalline materials steel, soft iron to which normally applies the classical Gans formula of the ratio between reversible susceptibility and magnetization. In this connection, better agreement with the Gans formula may be achieved by considering ideal magnetization, i.e., a case where the magnetization of a substance occurs under the simultaneous action of constant and variable fields of an amplitude that decreases to zero. Ideal magnetization of a material with RHL results in a more uniform distribution of regions with different magnetization directions in the volume of the material as compared, e.g., with magnetization in a constant field in this case deviation from the Gans curve will not exceed plus or minus 10.
