In this report the theory of micropolar continua has been used to analyze the stresses and displacements within the separate components of a fibrous composite material. The separate constituent materials are assumed to be linearly micropolar elastic, isotropic, and homogeneous. A model chosen consists of parallel fine fibers, embedded in a matrix material. The problem is formulated as one of plane micropolar elasticity and solved for some special cases. Various numerical results are presented and compared to those of the classical and indeterministic couple stress theories. Author
