Abstract:

The present note describes a preliminary study of the use of electrographic media in military communications. An electrographic medium is a device which permits the instantaneous transmission of handwritten or handsketched messages. Such a device is, in effect, an electronic pantograph. The initiator writes a message or draws a diagram on a plane surface. The position of the initiators writing instrument on the surface is sensed, the position information is transmitted to a remote station, and a writing instrument at the remote station is driven to a corresponding position.
