In the spectrometric oil analysis programs being used, mainly emission and atomic absorption equipment are used. Fifty lubricating oil samples were sent to 12 laboratories for analysis. The data collected from these 50 samples were evaluated for accuracy, precision, and sensitivity. The results indicate that the laboratories evaluated during this program should be able to retain an acceptable accuracy and precision level. Also, it was shown that continuing correlation programs are essential to the management and control of the laboratories engaged in the spectrometric oil analysis programs. Author
