Abstract:

The effect of binocular fusion of misaligned stereoscopic materials on visual comfort and performance was investigated. Misalignment consisted of the vertical displacement of one field relative to the other. Visual work requiring fusion in the instrument was continued over several hours, in some cases with secondary visual activities interpolated between trials on the main task. It was concluded that individuals with normal muscle balance can adjust to this type of misalignment with no greater problem of fatigue than with other exacting visual tasks. Author
