Impulsive motion of a semi-infinite and finite flat plate in free-molecular flow is examined. The collisionless Boltzmann equation for the problem is solved such that the effect of gas-surface interaction could be incorporated. For diffuse reflexion the solution does not show any discontinuous behavior found in the continuum or near continuum limits. Author
