Abstract:

A method is considered of combining up to 4 M-220 Soviet-made digital computers into a computing system and ensuring high productivity of the system computer speed, 50,000 operations per sec. The system is to be controlled by a Minsk-22 universal computer. A block diagram illustrates general ideas underlying this computing system. The internal memory consists of autonomous blocks which can be allocated to any computer. All external storages are subdivided into several groups, each with its local control unit the storage groups are allocated by a special selector operating on the time-sharing principle. The interruption system is a system which connects all units with the principal-program system and ensures specified priorities in execution of individual jobs introduced into the computing system.
