Abstract:

Some results of studying the electric arc burning processes such as 1 shunting affecting the arc average length, 2 large and reduced scale fluctuations of voltage, current and arc length causing the instability and affecting the electrodes life-time in a vortex stabilized arc plasma generator are presented. Conditions for the achieving of the increasing current voltage characteristics are indicated. The effect of the polarity of electrodes on the arc current voltage is explained. Some criteria for the description of the plasma generator characteristics and results of the criterial generalization are given. It is shown that the criterial generalization can be extended to a-c plasma generators.
