Abstract:

In experiments on guinea pigs data on the nonreactogenicity of live combined typhus vaccine E were confirmed during subcutaneous application and the tolerance dose of this vaccine was established for endotracheal administration. In comparison with subcutaneous, the endotracheal method of administration of the vaccine was accompanied by a more active production of complement fixing antibodies. Endotracheal and subcutaneous immunization are effective against subcutaneous, and to a lesser degree against endotracheal, infection with a virulent culture of Rickettsia prowazeki. In comparison with subcutaneous, endotracheal immunization has a certain, though insignificant, advantage under conditions of infection through the trachea. Author
