The necessity is pointed out for automating process control because the man who makes decisions re the process control is overloaded the actual average load is 8--10 binary units per sec while the carrying capacity is only 20--25 of that. This overload causes 15--20 losses connected with outrages and under utilization of equipment. Automatic control systems are classified into informational, information-advisory, information-control, and control systems. The control systems constructed or currently under development in the USSR are briefly reviewed.
