Presence of concentration heterogeneity in a charge promotes acceleration of ignition. Basic determining process during ignition is the process of chemical transformation, but at high temperatures acceleration of the reaction due to a transfer of reacting particles from one zone to another is possible. Therefore, despite accepted views, it is necessary to recognize that the transfer process even molar can directly accelerate the chain-chemical transformation rate. This hypothesis explains the cause of displacement of ignition rate maxima for the flame propagation motor fuels to somewhat enriched mixtures due to the acceleration of initial and intermediate reactions to enriched mixtures. The presence of different mechanisms of ignition, determined by the relationship of intensities of reaction development and mixing, permits understanding the nature of different types of burning when the relationship changes.
