Certain analytical problems of engineering and mathematical significance in the three-dimensional theory of elasticity have been solved. Solutions to these problems, in addition to their academic challenge, have proven to be useful in making design estimates. Particular problem areas investigated include the following Thermoelastic contact problems Problems involving torsion of structural members in contact A study of cracks in a medium undergoing simple shear A study of punch and crack problems involving adhesion.
