The preparation and purification of ethyl difluoramine are described. Pyrolysis experiments were performed with ethyl difluoramine from 300 to 462.5C using static and flow methods. The principal organic products were ethylene and acetonitrile. The reaction is first order. Evidence is presented to show that the reaction follows a molecular rather than chain mechanism. The reaction between nitric oxide and bis-trifluoromethyl peroxide was found to be a bimolecular reaction yielding nitrosylfluoride and carbonyl fluoride. A mechanism is proposed which may be classified as a bimolecular radical elimination. Author
