IONOSPHERIC AND METEOR OBSERVATIONS WITH LARGE ANTENNA ARRAY.

Two years were occupied by the design and construction of the antenna array and associated electronic equipment. A field station was established about 25 miles north of Adelaide the antenna array extends over approximately 1 sq km. The array consists of 89 crossed 2 MHz dipoles at a height of 35 feet above the ground. Cables run from each dipole to a central laboratory building. Drift measurements are made on the movement of ionized clouds above the station and displayed on a cathode ray tube somewhat similar to a TV display. Author
