Abstract:

Ten antimicrobic substances, different in chemical structure and in the degree of their action upon the development of aerobic bacteria Bac. mesentericus and Bac. brevis and of anaerobic bacteria Bac. sporogenes and Cl. butyricum were divided into two groups 8-hydroxyquinolin, toluquinon, alpha- and beta-naphthol, phenol, m-nitrophenol, and o-oxydiphenyl suppressed more markedly the development of aerobic bacteria, and potassium thiocyanate, 1.2 dithiocyanoethane, and potassium bor-fluoride more markedly suppressed the anaerobic ones.
