This report describes a development program under which three feasibility models of an airborne time frequency range altitude monitor were designed, developed, fabricated, tested, and delivered. The type of system developed is suited to many avionics applications. All equipment components required to implement such a system are readily available at the present time. The most novel hardware innovation of the program involved the use of metallic-oxide-substrate MOS shift registers for transmission and reception of start pulse groups. At the present time, the MOS approach is clearly superior to any other for the application. Author
