A method for the determination of oxygen in fluoro-organic compounds has been developed. A quartz combustion tube is used with a nickel insert for the carbon filling and a nickel sleeve for the sample. It was shown that the pyrolysis products contain fluorine in the form of low molecular fluorocarbons and only insignificant amounts, if any, of HF. They are led directly from the Ni tube containing the carbon filling into the oxidizer tube without passing through a scrubber. As oxidizer only CuO at 200C was found suitable. The gas then passes through a washer, a drying train and into the CO2 absorber. Author
