Abstract:
It was found that materials which relax by bond interchange in the glass transition region exhibit a much narrower distribution of relaxation times than those which relax by molecular flow. The half-width of the distribution is defined. Materials which relax by bond interchange have half-width values below ca 0.8, whereas those relaxing by molecular flow have values above ca 1.0. The correlation represents a useful diagnostic tool for the simple identification of the relaxation mechanism in polymers. Author
