Abstract:
An analytical investigation is made of time-dependent distortions of a pulse light signal transmitted by a narrow beam through an infinite turbid medium. The analysis proceeds from nonstationary transfer equations and considers single- and double-scattering approximations under conditions of a spherical-isotropic indicatrix. The distortion of the pulse shape at the receiving end and the pulse shape as back-scattered from the thickness of the medium are determined. The effect of the aperture radius of the receiving pupil on the cross-sectional distribution of light intensity and the effect of the distance of the distance of the source are considered, and the relationships are presented in the form of graphs. A criterion is established for taking into account multiple scattering in the estimation of backscattering. Author
