The motion of a fluid with a free surface in a right circular cylindrical vessel due to axisymmetric wall motion is considered. In the case of side wall motion the direct solution to the potential flow problem has a continuous spectrum of wave numbers making the evaluation of transient motions difficult. To solve this problem a method of indirect solution is used which results in a discrete wave number spectrum. Author
