The optimum composition of neutralizing additives of motor oils is determined by studying the mechanism of their action under conditions of modeling during which the appropriate functional property of oils with additives most clearly appears. The remaining part of Chapter 1, deals with the influence of the chemical composition of additives on the effectiveness of neutralizing action of additives. Chapter 2, discusses the investigation of counterwear properties of additives to oils in conditions of electroerosional wear, and Chapter 3, deals with the study of the mechanism of detergent action of additives to motor oils. In Chapter 4, the investigation of the mechanism of anticorrosive action of additives to oils is discussed, and Chapter 5, deals with the investigation of the mechanism of action of countersizing additives. Also discussed here is the mechanism of action of molybdenum-organic additives to oils. In Chapter 6, certain peculiarities of wear of internal combustion engines with the application of oils with additives are discussed, and the last chapter covers the investigation of the influence of different additives on counterwear properties of liquids for hydraulic systems.
