This study blends pure climatology with subjective reasoning to produce a visibility improvement forecast. It presents a method of deriving visibility improvement graphs from persistence-probability tables prepared by the USAF Environmental Technical Applications Center ETAC. In addition, a set of subjective rules for modifying the graphical forecast is developed. These rules are combined with the graphical forecast in a semi-objective visibility improvement checklist.
