Abstract:

Twice-repeated exposure to vibration 15 min each time causes a statistically reliable increase in spontaneous electric activity of the hind leg muscles at relative rest in guinea pigs. Such vibration will also activate the response to adequate stimulation of the vestibular apparatus, as recorded by an electromyograph. The latency of reaction is reduced, while the aftereffect is prolonged. These changes persist through a 5-7 day period following vibration. No statistically reliable changes are noted affecting the general condition of the animal or the peripheral blood composition. Author
