A mathematical model is developed for the calculation of free-field gamma exposure rates from a variety of U235-mixed-fission-product sources. The source geometries considered include ambient or non-ambient cylindrical or annular sources, and an ambient cylindrical source encased in a non-ambient topped annulus. In the integration procedures, the self-attenuation of the sources is considered and time-dependent effective attenuation coefficients are employed to characterize the attenuation and absorption of the spectra of gamma photons emitted from the fission product radionuclides.
