IMPROVED PROPYLENE COPOLYMER DIELECTRICS FOR COMMUNICATIONS CABLE,
HERCULES INC WILMINGTON DEL
Pagination or Media Count:
With a background of high density polyethylenes developed for wire and cable applications, including copolymerization processes, an effort was made to optimize a polypropylene resin having the broadest possible utility as a primary insulation material with a good balance of mechanical, electrical and processing properties. Special emphasis was placed on low temperature performance and processability. Numerous types of copolymer resins were studied in which the percent of comonomer and method of its incorporation were varied. The principal development was through modifications using ethylene as the comonomer.
