Synthesis of macromolecules suitable for testing of the validity of Littles theory of superconductivity of organic molecules has been attempted. The synthesis consists of polymerization of acetylenic derivatives into polyenes with suitable substituents. Polymerizations were done under inert or vacuum atmosphere with solid state, and solution state, gamma radiation initiation, and with highly stereospecific co-ordination catalysts. It was found that the catalyst initiated polymers have a higher molecular weight than gamma radiation initiated polymers. However, the molecular weights in both cases are very low. The polymerized products have been fabricated into testing form, and subjected to mutual inductance measurements as a function of temperature. Time does not allow a full evaluation of the validity of this test method for superconductivity, and additional work is required. Author
