Abstract:

A simple method is proposed for solving planar and axisymmetric heat exchange problems on propagation of laminar and turbulent jets of incompressible fluid along an infinite plane wall. It is assumed that a plane jet of gas flows from an infinitely thin slit and is propagated along one side of a flat wall, while an axisymmetric jet flows from a radial diffuser or point source and is propagated along an infinite plane barrier. The slit and radial diffuser are located in the plane of the wall along which the jet is propagated. It is assumed that the density and viscosity of the gas are constant and that the flow is steady. To be determined are the basic flow and heat exchange characteristics during propagation of laminar and turbulent jets of incompressible gas along a wall at low temperature gradients.
