Abstract:

The fighter aircraft is the basic and most important aircraft in a modern air force. According to differences in characteristics and uses, interceptors may be divided into various types. At present, the trends of development of fighter planes lie in higher speed at higher altitudes, increase of range, increase of versatility, still better equipment, solution of the VSTOL problem. While a part of present air-defense systems, they will supplement ground-to-air guided missiles and be used in coexistence with the latter. Author
