Abstract:

The virus, isolated from patients of tick spotted fever, is the agent of this infection. It is pathogenic for guinea pigs, rabbits and monkeys and nonpathogenic for white mice. In the infected male pigs it is easy to detect rickettsia in the smears from the exudation of the Tunicae vaginalis. In rabbits, infected with tick spotted fever virus in the testicles, irregular orchitis appears and a positive Weil-Felix reaction to Proteus OX19 is indicated. Strains isolated from man are identical and are related to those of tick and rabbits. Author
