Abstract:

The decrease in the diameter of the photographic image of Mars in red and infrared light is explained by the difference of brightness distribution in various regions of the spectrum. It is shown that the diameter of the image of Mars in red and infrared light depends on the contrast of the photographic materials employed photographic plates, developer. This phenomenon is not observed in violet and ultraviolet light.
