Abstract:

Experimental investigations of the transverse edge effect in induction pumps were carried out on metallic plates in the channel of a mercury pump at a flow rate Q 0. The following formula was derived for determining the coefficient of K sub delta which characterizes the transverse edge effect K sub delta 1 C taualpha to the 2nd power, where tau is the pole spacing of the pump alpha is the width of the metal layer in the pump throat, C is a constant C nearly equal to 1.
