Abstract:
Present implementation procedures of the MIT model for non-reparable items do not allow for undershooting the reorder point. A factor is developed which, when added to the reorder point, will correct this undershooting. A backorder term is added to the original objective function and tables for a range of availability levels and other input parameters are computed. Finally, the application of inventory models when procurement contracts may result in scheduling of more than one delivery is considered. It is shown that the MIT model can be used to calculate the safety level if the delivery cycle is known. Author
