Abstract:

Present implementation procedures of the MIT model for non-reparable items do not allow for undershooting the reorder point. A factor is developed which, when added to the reorder point, will correct this undershooting. A backorder term is added to the original objective function and tables for a range of availability levels and other input parameters are computed. Finally, the application of inventory models when procurement contracts may result in scheduling of more than one delivery is considered.
