Abstract:

Semi-empirical methods are given for incorporating variable thermophysical properties in nonisothermal turbulent flows of various fluids. Derived expressions are applied to a number of flow situations. These include heat transfer and skin friction for air at Pr approx. 0.7 liquids such as oils under cooling and heating heat transfer skin friction of liquids and, finally, to conditions of near critical heat transfer conditions. All the results correlate well with experiments performed in tubes with the various fluids mentioned above. Author
