Abstract:

The Fock equation is solved for the 3s radial orbital of the configuration 1s22s23s of boron, while the other orbitals practically coincide with the corresponding orbitals of the positive ion of boron. The total energy value in the two-configuration approximation 1s22s23s-1s22p23s is determined and compared with the experimental value. It is pointed out that the two-configuration approximation in the case in question is not the same as in the case of the ground configuration of the same atom. Author
