Abstract:

The experience of the past six years in the use of commercially available, variable-reluctance type pressure transducers is presented. The transducers are of the differential type with ranges of 2, 1, 0.5, 0.1, and 0.03 psid and used both at full range and 110 range for measuring pressures from 0.0005 to 2.0 psia. The transducers were used for single pressure measurements and combined with a selector valve for multiple pressure measurements, in both cases under various ambient conditions. Repeatability and hysteresis combined were within one per cent of full scale for 110 range calibrations. Response to a step function of pressure from one model tap to the next was the order of two minutes to a steady value when three feet of 0.047 ID tubing connected the model tap to the transducer.
