Abstract:

The use of paired detectors to measure time-resolved gamma ray exposure rates and fast neutron flux densities is described. Errors in determining detector sensitivities and measuring detector currents for a given calibation and measurement precision limit this technique to radiation fields defined by certain neutron-to-gamma ratios. The errors in the measured exposure rate and flux density are calculated both generally and for the specific case where the errors in a given type of measurement are assumed to be similar. A FORTRAN computer program is given to assist in data reduction for a linear detector system or one employing a logarithmic current amplifier. Author
