The authors discuss converters designed for measuring the time interval transit time between some zero time determined by the starting signal and the time when the detector records a particle. Accuracy in the measurement of such time intervals is analyzed with respect to factors which may cause nonlinearity in the converter. Converter characteristics are discussed and a block diagram of a converter is given. A brief description is given of a converter consisting of three functional circuits phasing pulse generator, channel pulse shaper and converter. The various components which make up these sections are described and their important parameters are given.
