Abstract:

Information can be displayed in several colors on a Plasma Display Panel when phosphors are added to the cells. Experiments have shown that both cathodoluminescent phosphors and phosphors sensitive to ultraviolet light can be excited by the gas discharge in a cell. In addition, it has been observed that the presence of a phosphor on the inside surfaces of the cell does not impair the inherent memory. With rare gases in panels containing cathodoluminescent phosphors, the intensity of the phosphorescence increases with the atomic weight of the gas. Author
