Abstract:

Observations indicate that at low relative humidity a contact angle of about 5 degrees can be obtained for water on prepared aluminum. The same surface exposed to 100 relative humidity exhibits poor water wettability. The situation is reversed for a polyamide-epoxy adhesive. Wetting was improved under conditions of high rather than low relative humidity. Consistent with this adhesives wetting behavior, adhesive joints prepared with it under high relative humidity conditions were stronger than those produced under dry conditions. Author
