A review of some previous work on borate condensation reactions is given and experimental investigations are reported. The borax-glycol reaction is interpreted as involving a nearly complete degree of condensation, forming a mixture of acidic and basic borate products. The condensates of propylene glycol with boric acid and with sodium metaborate were prepared. Mixing these is an alternate preparation of the borax-glycol condensate. Author
