Abstract:

The objectives of the study were 1 to record sounds produced by certain marine fishes 2 to analyze the recordings for acoustic features characteristic of different species 3 to investigate the mechanisms by which fishes produce sounds 4 to determine the behavioral significance of fish sounds 5 to determine the sensitivity of fish to sounds of different frequencies 6 to investigate the parameters of sounds to which fish can respond 7 to examine, by psychophysical means, the mechanisms of sound reception in fishes.
