A fundamental equation of magnetic hydrodynamics was solved for one turn of a helical rectangular-cross-section channel having finite axial and radial dimensions the channel sides are commensurable. The problem was solved under certain simplifying assumptions and only for a stationary laminar flow of the liquid metal. The very complicated formulas for local and average velocities of the liquid metal and for the electromagnetic pressure cover all varieties of d-c pumps. By imposing limit conditions, it is possible to obtain from the above formulas the equations developed by other authors for ring channels with infinite axial width of the turn, for flat channels with finite cross-section, and also for a narrow slot.
