Abstract:

It was previously suggested that for the purposes of talking about simple politics two people engaged in essentially face-to-face situations about matters which can be decided upon in a short period of time, a political interaction could be described as one in which at least one party to the interaction is attempting to extract something material or symbolic from the other party or parties. It is now shown how simple political interactions may be put together or synthesized to form complex politics and, conversely, how complex politics may be analyzed into its various simple component parts.
