Mechanical and corrosion properties of eleven alpha-beta uranium alloys were determined for various aging and isothermal transformation heat treatments. Eight alloys contained small additions and variations to the basic alloy 1-12Mo-1-12Cb-1-12Zr-12Ti, and three contained higher columbium content. The properties of the basic alloy were relatively unaffected by the slight modifications to its composition. High yield strength of 240 ksi and adequate impact energies were obtained. However, the ductility and corrosion resistance did not meet current military specifications. In comparison, the three alloys with higher columbium content exhibited satisfactory ductility, impact energy, and corrosion resistance at the 200 ksi yield strength levels. Author
