Abstract:

The present status of the theories and experimental data on elementary processes in low-temperature plasma is considered. Particular attention is paid to 1 Thermal dissociation of diatomic molecules 2 Thermal dissociation of polyatomic molecules 3 Exchange reactions 4 Excitation and ionization of atoms by electrons 5 Impact ionization 6 Recombinative ionization 7 Electronic excitation, electronic energy transfer and charge transfer in atomic and molecular collisions 8 Ion-molecular reactions 9 Dissociative recombination 10 Associative ionization. The insufficient accuracy of present rate constant determinations is emphasized and the necessity in extensive theoretical investigations of above problems is discussed. Author
